Softball Recap: West Side Takes a Loss

West Side dropped down to 8-9 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Bear Lake Bears, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.

Halle Taylor made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Bear Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.

On Bear Lake's side, Lindsay Fisher was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Fisher was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brielle Romrell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Abby Humpherys, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, West Side will head out on the road to square off against Malad at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bear Lake, they will host Preston at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 12.7 runs per game this season.
