Preview: Greater Vision Academy Lions vs. Central Carolina Prep Defenders
The Greater Vision Academy Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Central Carolina Prep Defenders at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Greater Vision Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Central Carolina Prep likes a good challenge.
Even though Greater Vision Academy has not done well against South Guilford HomeSchool recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Greater Vision Academy claimed a resounding 91-42 victory over South Guilford HomeSchool on the road. Given Greater Vision Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while South Guilford HomeSchool is ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Titus Tucker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Greater Vision Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Love, who scored 18 points along with 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Central Carolina Prep pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Oak Ridge Military Academy on the road by a decisive 71-56 margin.
Greater Vision Academy has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 6-2 record. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.67 points. As for Central Carolina Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Greater Vision Academy was taken down by Central Carolina Prep 69-13 when the teams last played back in November of 2020. Can Greater Vision Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
