Baseball Game Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Trabuco Hills Mustangs

Mission Viejo is 2-8 against Trabuco Hills since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Diablos will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Trabuco Hills took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mission Viejo, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Mission Viejo beat El Toro 8-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Diablos.

Jack Boucher was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-4. Max Osika was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Mission Viejo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Trabuco Hills didn't have quite enough to beat El Toro on Monday and fell 2-1.

Mike DeFrancesca was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Ryan Luce made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Trabuco Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 14-5-1. As for Mission Viejo, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Mission Viejo came up short against Trabuco Hills in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Diablos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
