Baseball Recap: Standish-Sterling Takes a Loss

If Standish-Sterling was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Gladwin on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Petoskey Northmen by a score of 7-6 on Saturday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Northmen earlier this season, when they won 11-10.

Standish-Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4-1. As for Petoskey, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Standish-Sterling and Petoskey should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 15th) will meet Powers Catholic (ranked 260th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Petoskey will challenge Rudyard at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (36 vs. 407).
