Volleyball Game Preview: Marshwood Hawks vs. York Wildcats + How To Watch

The Marshwood Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the York Wildcats at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Marshwood is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Thornton Academy just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Marshwood was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Thornton Academy work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 27-25, 21-25, 25-13.

Meanwhile, York put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Greely as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

York not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Greely between 16 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.

York's win came from a few key players Marshwood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jillian Holland, who had 17 digs, nine kills, two blocks, and two aces. That's the most blocks she has posted over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Babcock, who had 24 digs and two aces.

York's record now sits at 7-0. As for Marshwood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Marshwood suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to York when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
