Softball Recap: Elyria Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Elyria had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Normandy Invaders 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

Braylee Beckham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 20 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Camille Dunlap was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

Elyria's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Normandy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Elyria will have a chance to go back-to-back against Normandy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
