Volleyball Game Preview: Jasper Wildcats vs. Southridge Raiders

Jasper is a perfect 10-0 against Southridge since September of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wildcats will challenge the Raiders at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jasper is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Gibson Southern by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Nora Breitwieser went supernova, getting 23 digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last six matchups. Stella Knies also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Northeast Dubois last Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Southridge had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-22.

Jasper better focus on containing Kenley Ferguson and Addyson Rainey as the pair were huge in Southridge's win. Ferguson had 20 digs and three aces, while Rainey had 11 digs. Ferguson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The victory got Southridge back to even at 14-14. As for Jasper, their record is now 21-11.

Everything went Jasper's way against Southridge in their previous meeting back in September, as Jasper made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
