Baseball Recap: Waynesville Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Waynesville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 7-0 to the Archbishop Alter Knights on Saturday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Waynesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harrison Byrd, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Waynesville will host Loveland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Archbishop Alter, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-0 defeat against Beavercreek on the 1st.
