Softball Game Preview: New Berlin West Vikings vs. Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings

South Milwaukee hit New Berlin West with a seven-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Rockets, falling 14-4. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

New Berlin West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Kopischke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double. That double marked the first that Kopischke has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin Lutheran faced Kenosha Bradford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Vikings fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 1-0. The Vikings were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matchups prior), but the Red Devils' pitcher proved too tough.

Sydney Vitangcol put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wisconsin Lutheran fell to 9-1. As for New Berlin West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
