Football Recap: Dadeville Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Dadeville were just a hair shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Randolph County. The defeat continues a trend for Dadeville in their meetings with Randolph County: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Dadeville lost, don't look at Davis McKelvey. Despite the final result, he threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 104 yards and one score on only six carries. A healthy portion of McKelvey's aerial production (103 yards to be exact) went to Corde Jefferson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Maruice Winston was nothing short of spectacular for Randolph County: he rushed for 314 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 131 receiving yards and one score. Winston is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 263 every time he's taken the field this season. Rhett Huddleston was another key player, throwing for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight passes.

Dadeville's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Randolph County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Dadeville will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Reeltown at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Randolph County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Lee-Scott Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,130 yards in their previous games.
