Football Game Preview: Spooner Rails vs. Bloomer Blackhawks

The Spooner Rails will face off against the Bloomer Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spooner is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Friday, Spooner was beaten by Barron 57-13. While losing is never fun, the Rails can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Golden Bears are ranked 132nd).

Meanwhile, Bloomer fell victim to Northwestern and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 62-0 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The Blackhawks have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Bloomer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Spooner, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Spooner against Bloomer when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Blackhawks' Zeke Strand, who picked up 72 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 77 yards on only ten carries.
