Football Recap: Mountain View Skates Past Sunnyside with Ease

Mountain View's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Sunnyside Blue Devils 28-0. The result was nothing new for the Mountain Lions, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Mountain View was led to victory by Drake Davis and Ion Brin. Davis rushed for 252 yards while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, while Brin rushed for 91 yards and one score on only six carries. Brin got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 93 yards. Devin Loya was in the mix as well, providing Mountain View with one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountain View was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 364 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Mountain View's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jason Pogue and Caden Rudy, who racked up five sacks between them. Rudy has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Mountain View received some extra help from Loya, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Mountain View is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.5 points over those games. As for Sunnyside, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Mountain View is taking a road trip to take on Buena at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Mountain Lions will be up against the Colts' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.11 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Sunnyside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
