Football Recap: Muncy Falls Despite Big Games from Andrew Walters and Gavin Barrows

If Muncy was feeling good fresh off their 42-0 takedown of Sayre last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians came up short against the Montgomery Red Raiders on Friday, falling 27-7. The Indians were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the three games prior), but the Red Raiders' defense proved too tough.

Despite the loss, Muncy had strong showings from Gavin Barrows, who picked up 87 receiving yards and one TD, and Andrew Walters, who threw for 215 yards and one touchdown.

Muncy's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Montgomery, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Muncy will challenge North Penn-Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.67 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Montgomery, they will square off against Northwest Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
