Basketball Recap: Mclaurin Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

McLaurin's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 65-44 margin over the Hazlehurst Indians. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

McLaurin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Davidson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. What's more, Davidson also posted an 83% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. TY Williams was another key player, putting up 18 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

McLaurin was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hazlehurst only racked up five.

Hazlehurst's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Josiah Pittman, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Kavarrious Crawford, who posted ten points and eight boards. With that strong performance, Pittman is now averaging an impressive 8.7 rebounds per game.

The victory snapped McLaurin's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-6 record. As for Hazlehurst, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. McLaurin will head out to challenge Wesson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will be up against the Cobras' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.78 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hazlehurst, they will head out on the road to face off against Lawrence County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
