Basketball Game Preview: New Castle Trojans vs. Jay County Patriots

The New Castle Trojans will take on the Jay County Patriots in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, New Castle turned things around against Centerville on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 61-42 win over the Bulldogs.

New Castle found their leader in sophomore Piper Arthur, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Carlee Lanzer, who put up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Jay County posted their biggest victory since January 20th on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 57-21 win over Blackford. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

The victory got Jay County back to even at 5-5. As for New Castle, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

New Castle was dealt a bruising 63-24 defeat at the hands of Jay County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for New Castle, Sophia Saxman (who earned 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
