Baseball Game Preview: Ralston Rams vs. Mount Michael Benedictine Knights

The Ralston Rams will head out to square off against the Mount Michael Benedictine Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Ralston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Ralston came out on top against Nebraska City on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Rams were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Pioneers. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ralston got a great performance from Dallas Whetzal as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Whetzal has posted since back in April of 2025.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cade Stix, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen Buechler, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Mount Michael Benedictine didn't have quite enough to beat Skutt Catholic on Friday and fell 5-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the SkyHawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Leo Sheridan made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Burroughs, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Ralston's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Mount Michael Benedictine, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Everything went Ralston's way against Mount Michael Benedictine when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Ralston made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
