The Head-Royce Jayhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Redwood Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Head-Royce is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Head-Royce barely beat Athenian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jayhawks blew past the Owls 14-2 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Jayhawks in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won six in a row.
Ezra Goldfarb made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Head-Royce got a massive performance out of Mateo Gonzalez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Kaden Choi was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Redwood Christian suffered their closest loss since March 18th on Saturday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They haven't had much luck with the Pilots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Like Head-Royce, Redwood Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Cooper Fanucchi. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Fanucchi was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Fanucchi wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adam Hendren, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Dikaio Ambriz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Head-Royce pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Redwood Christian, their record now sits at 7-9-1.
Redwood Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Head-Royce has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. It's a different story for Redwood Christian, though, as they've only averaged .365. Will they be able to contain Head-Royce's hitters?
Head-Royce beat Redwood Christian 5-1 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Jayhawks repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
