Bayard Rustin lost to Downingtown East back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Bayard Rustin came out on top in a nail-biter against Downingtown East, sneaking past 5-4. That's two games straight that the Golden Knights have won by just one run.

Ashley Falcone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jenna Kraft, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Joslyn Garner, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Bayard Rustin has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Downingtown East, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayard Rustin will take on Avon Grove at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Downingtown East, they will square off against Henderson at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Downingtown East is facing Henderson at the right time seeing as Henderson is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
