Northfield is 8-2 against Manchester since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Norsemen will host the Squires at 7:00 p.m.
On Monday, Northfield didn't have quite enough to beat Oak Hill and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Norsemen in their meetings with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Northfield took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-11, 24-26, 25-10, 15-5.
The losing side was boosted by Bella Myers, who had 22 digs and one assist.
Meanwhile, Manchester got the win against Maconaquah on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The Squires haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-16, 25-10.
Northfield better focus on containing Sophie Cumberland and Myla Crozier as the pair were huge in Manchester's win. Cumberland had 31 assists and seven digs, while Crozier had 13 digs and one assist. Those 31 assists gave Cumberland a new career-high. Kaylin Johnson also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Manchester was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maconaquah didn't served any.
Manchester's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Northfield, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Northfield has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
