Preview: West Florence Knights vs. South Florence Bruins
After three games on the road, West Florence is heading back home. They will take on the South Florence Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Florence will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 138th, while South Florence is ranked 36th).
Last Wednesday, West Florence came up short against Hartsville and fell 47-40.
Meanwhile, South Florence entered their tilt with North Myrtle Beach with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. South Florence managed a 64-58 win over North Myrtle Beach on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Florence's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Amare Adams, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Jarius Davis, who scored ten points along with six steals. Davis continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jackson Robinson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
West Florence bumped their record down to 6-12 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for South Florence, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
West Florence took a serious blow against South Florence in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 79-42. Can West Florence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
