Football Game Preview: Wynot Blue Devils vs. St. Mary's Cardinals + Official Tickets

The Wynot Blue Devils will take on the St. Mary's Cardinals at 2:45 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wynot comes in on nine and St. Mary's on 12.

Wynot is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Central Valley with points to spare, taking the game 45-28. Wynot's victory was all the more impressive since the Cougars were averaging only 10.5 points allowed on the season.

Wynot's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braylon Hans led the charge by picking up 159 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Hans was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 60 yards. Lane Heimes was in the mix too, providing Wynot with three TDs.

Wynot didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Central Valley to a completion percentage of just 48.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Parker Schmidt and Killian Steinhaus, who each logged one passes deflected. Wynot wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 68.2%.

Wynot didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hans and Kotner Koch.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. Mary's challenged Howells-Dodge on Friday. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 52-28 win. Considering the Cardinals have won 11 contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Wynot better keep an eye on Gage Hedstrom. He was instrumental in St. Mary's win, rushing for 328 yards and five scores while picking up 13.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hedstrom also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Another player making a difference was Ben Barlow, who picked up 93 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Wynot's record is now 11-1. As for St. Mary's, their record now sits at 12-0.
