Football Recap: St. Mary's Ryken's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

St. Mary's Ryken had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down the Severn School Admirals 42-28. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Admirals are ranked 85th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Severn School lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ty Bussard, who threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Watkins, who picked up 50 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, St. Mary's Ryken will square off against Mount St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Severn School, they will face off against Annapolis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Admirals their first taste of in-conference action this season.
