Basketball Game Preview: Sound Christian Lions vs. Grace Academy Eagles

Sound Christian and Grace Academy are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. After both having extra time off, both will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sound Christian will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Sound Christian is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing North Beach: they outscored them in every quarter. Sound Christian took down North Beach 37-21 last Friday.

Sound Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Mesler, who posted 18 points and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mesler has scored at least a third of Sound Christian's points. Piper Timmer was another key player, putting up six points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, Grace Academy was a bit more limited in their game last Thursday. They took a blow against Lummi, falling 72-9. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Blackhawks recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Sound Christian's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Grace Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Everything came up roses for Sound Christian against Grace Academy when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 59-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sound Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
