Riverton is a perfect 6-0 against Corner Canyon since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Silverwolves will host the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. Riverton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Riverton made easy work of Taylorsville and carried off a 13-1 win. The Silverwolves haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Kaelyn Flynn looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Camryn O'Farrell was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Tacke, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI.
Riverton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Corner Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Kearns.
Mikaela Gale and Hannah Brown did some serious damage despite the final result: Gale went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Brown went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Tori Barrett was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Corner Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Riverton, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.
Corner Canyon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12 hits per game. It's a different story for Corner Canyon, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Riverton's sizable advantage in that area, the Chargers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Riverton took their victory against Corner Canyon when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 20-0 score. Do the Silverwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
