Basketball Recap: Deposit-Hancock Drops Highest Score of Season Against Harpursville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deposit-Hancock). They blew past the Harpursville Hornets 96-74 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Deposit-Hancock also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Deposit-Hancock was led to victory by Micah Simmons and Blake Fortunato. Simmons dropped a triple-double on 42 points, 23 rebounds, and ten assists, while Fortunato went 15 of 30 on his way to 37 points and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Fortunato has scored at least a third of Deposit-Hancock's points. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Gonzalez, who posted nine points and six assists.

Deposit-Hancock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Deposit-Hancock's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Harpursville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Deposit-Hancock will welcome Walton at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Deposit-Hancock knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Walton likes a good challenge. As for Harpursville, they will head out to face off against Unadilla Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
