Softball Recap: O'Fallon Takes a Loss

O'Fallon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Freeburg Midgets. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Midgets from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Megan Shull was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilli Coleman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, O'Fallon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

O'Fallon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Freeburg, their win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-3.

O'Fallon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-8 victory against Mater Dei on the 25th. As for Freeburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-2 win against Highland on the 24th.
