Softball Recap: Celeste Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Celeste put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Cooper Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Madilen Fronterhouse made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Celeste let Morgan Nickell and MaddieClaire Park run wild. Nickell fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4, while Park scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI Nickell has posted since back in February. Sydnee Dickens also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Celeste hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 13 consecutive matchups.

Celeste is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. Cooper's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Celeste beat Cooper by a score of 10-0 on Friday.
