Basketball Recap: Shoals Christian Falls Short of Marion County in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Shoals Christian can now relate to. They were dealt an 83-52 loss at the hands of the Marion County Red Raiders on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Flame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 85th).

Despite the loss, Shoals Christian still got an impressive performance from Sarah Davis (2025), who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards. Davis (2025)'s evening made it 20 games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Mamie Bachofer was another key player, going 5 of 7 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Shoals Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Marion County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-7.
