Softball Preview: Osawatomie Trojans vs. Iola Mustangs

The Osawatomie Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Iola Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. in Tuesday's first game. Osawatomie is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Osawatomie suffered a tough 16-6 defeat at the hands of Central Heights.

KayLee Johns and Jules Beery stepped up to the plate in a big way. Johns went 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and a double, while Beery went 2-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Fanning, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Meanwhile, Iola had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.3 runs), and they went ahead and made it four in Friday's second game. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Panthers. That's two games straight that Iola has won by just one run.
