Basketball Recap: O'connor Starts Season with Win at Home

O'Connor gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Hamilton Huskies with a sharp 77-53 victory. The contest was close at halftime, but the Eagles turned on the heat in the second half with 41 points.

Leading O'Connor to victory were Audrey Bhesania and Ava Schooler. Bhesania dropped a double-double with 31 points and 11 boards, while Schooler went 8-for-19 to rack up 22 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those 31 points gave Bhesania a new career-high. Mia Davis was another key player, shooting 45% from the field on her way to 10 points.

O'Connor has already played their next game, a 92-40 loss against Ontario Christian on the 22nd. As for Hamilton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Francis Parker at 2:45 p.m. on the 3rd.
