Basketball Recap: Gilbert Comes Up Short

Gilbert lost against Higley back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Gilbert Tigers fell 71-59 to the Higley Knights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Higley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Dabney, who went 11-for-13 on his way to 25 points and eight boards. The match was Dabney's third in a row with at least 15 points. Gavin Dabney was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 20 points and five rebounds.

Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Higley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Gilbert wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-60 loss against Highland on the 13th. As for Higley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-53 defeat against Williams Field on the 12th.
