Softball Recap: Emerson Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Emerson hadn't done well against Memorial recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Emerson walked away with a 6-3 win over Memorial. For the Mavericks, this counts as revenge for the 7-0 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Madison Fletcher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ellie Thurman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Thurman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Emerson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

Emerson pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Memorial, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

Emerson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-2 win against Centennial on the 17th. As for Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 19-2 loss against Liberty on the 17th.
