Recap: Timberlake Christian Tornadoes vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Lions
The Timberlake Christian Tornadoes and the Dayspring Christian Academy Lions squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but sadly the Timberlake Christian Tornadoes had to settle for second. They fell to the Lions 43-38. While losing is never fun, Timberlake Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while Dayspring Christian Academy is ranked 170th).
Several Tornadoes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Luther, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 21 rebounds. Luther is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Mooney, who scored 11 points along with six steals.
Timberlake Christian's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.6 points per game. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Timberlake Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dayspring Christian Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
