Football Recap: El Modena Vanguards vs. Santa Barbara Dons
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but El Modena had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over the Santa Barbara Dons. 28 seems to be a good number for the Vanguards as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
El Modena had a senior duo take command as Xzavior Guess threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns and Brodie Hitchens gained 98 total yards and two touchdowns. Connor Smith also helped out with an impressive 116 receiving yards.
The victory made it two in a row for El Modena and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Santa Barbara, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4-1.
El Modena will square off against Thousand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Modena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 37.4 points per game this season. Santa Barbara does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
