Baseball Game Preview: Minnetonka Skippers vs. Moorhead Spuds

The Minnetonka Skippers will take on the Moorhead Spuds at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Minnetonka had taken St. Michael-Albertville down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Skippers fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-3. The loss put an end to the Skippers' undefeated start to the season.

Jack Butterworth was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Minnetonka saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Storts, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Moorhead suffered their closest defeat since May 3, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Marshall by a score of 4-2.

Having lost for the first time this season, Minnetonka fell to 2-1. As for Moorhead, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
