Basketball Game Preview: Exeter Blue Hawks vs. Bishop Guertin Cardinals

Exeter is 0-7 against Bishop Guertin since December of 2014 but things could change on Thursday. The Exeter Blue Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Bishop Guertin Cardinals at 6:30 p.m.

Exeter is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Bedford, who was ranked second at the time (Exeter was ranked 13th). Exeter was dealt a 75-37 defeat at the hands of Bedford on Friday. The game marked the Blue Hawks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Guertin). They blew past Dover, posting a 65-19 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 31 points or more this season.

Bishop Guertin has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Exeter, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Exeter suffered a grim 62-37 defeat to Bishop Guertin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Exeter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
