Football Recap: El Monte Comes Up Short

El Monte fell victim to Arroyo and their airtight defense on Monday. They took a blow against the Knights, falling 27-0. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 24-0.

Arroyo found their leader in sophomore Hailie Espinoza, who made nine total tackles and defended three passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.

El Monte has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8-2 record this season. As for Arroyo, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. El Monte will challenge rival South El Monte at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Arroyo is set to take on their familiar foe Gabrielino at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
