Baseball Recap: Monarch Comes Up Short

Monarch extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against Highlands Christian, falling 11-0. Monarch was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Highlands Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Highlands Christian, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 12 runs thus far.

For Highlands Christian's part, the result came thanks to Steven Perals's shutout, as he gave up just a hit.

At the plate, Gustavo Alvira was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bryce Goldstein, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monarch will welcome Coral Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Highlands Christian, they will host Jupiter Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
