Basketball Recap: Westmont Hilltop Takes Down West Shamokin in a Playoff Battle

Westmont Hilltop had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the West Shamokin Wolves 66-37 on Friday. The Hilltoppers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 29 points or more this season.

Defeat or not, West Shamokin got some senior leadership from Braydn Rodgers and Travis Johns. Rodgers on his way to 18 points and six rebounds, while Johns posted six points and seven boards. That was a full 48.6% of West Shamokin's points, marking the sixth time in a row Rodgers has scored more than a third of the team's points.

The victory made it two in a row for Westmont Hilltop and bumps their season record up to 17-5. As for West Shamokin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-7 record this season.

Westmont Hilltop will square off against Forest Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 contests -- so hopefully Westmont Hilltop likes a good challenge. West Shamokin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
