Baseball Game Preview: El Segundo Eagles vs. South Spartans

For the second straight game, El Segundo will face off against South. El Segundo will be playing at home against South at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (El Segundo 2.8, South 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

El Segundo barely beat South the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. El Segundo blew past South 7-1 on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

El Segundo got a great performance from Porter Robbins as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. The dominant performance also gave Robbins a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chase Mattoon, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Rico, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for El Segundo, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2-1.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. El Segundo has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like South struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
