Basketball Recap: Rising Sun Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Rising Sun needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Brody Morris. The Rising Sun Shiners narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the New Washington Mustangs 59-56 thanks in part to Morris, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Rising Sun's points.

Another player making a difference was Brayden Burris, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Those ten points gave him a new career-high.

Rising Sun's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for New Washington, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Rising Sun didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-31 loss against Oldenburg Academy on the 21st. As for New Washington, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
