Basketball Recap: DJ Reyno's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lathrop over Johansen

Lathrop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 72-51 to the Johansen Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 907th, while the Vikings are ranked 440th).

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DJ Reyno, who posted seven points and four steals. That's the most steals Reyno has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caiden Wisnieski, who scored seven points and eight rebounds.

Among those leading the charge was Jeremiah Silva, who put up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wilbert Gaxiola, who had ten points.

Lathrop's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Johansen, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Lathrop didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-59 victory against Livingston on the 7th. As for Johansen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-56 loss against Central Valley on the 7th.
