Baseball Recap: Doherty Memorial Comes Up Short

Doherty Memorial was the 9-5 winner over South when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Highlanders fell just short of the Colonels by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Doherty Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden O'Connor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was O'Connor's first of the season.

Doherty Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for South, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Coming up, Doherty Memorial will venture away from home to challenge Advanced Math & Science Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for South, they will welcome Assabet Valley RVT at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Aztecs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.3 runs per game on average), something the Colonels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
