Ponderosa hasn't had much luck against Green Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 1:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jenni Sorvillo and Kantyn Pearson.
Back in December of 2024, Ponderosa ended up a good deal behind Lewis-Palmer and lost 43-25. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Rangers are ranked 84th).

Despite the defeat, Ponderosa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shae Heiden dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Heiden a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Green Mountain entered their tilt with Chatfield two weeks ago with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They snuck past the Chargers with a 52-48 win. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly four points.
Ponderosa better focus on containing Julia Schafer and Pearson as the pair were huge in Green Mountain's win. Schafer went 7 of 10 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds, while Pearson went 7 of 15 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pearson has scored at least a third of Green Mountain's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Herrig, who posted six points and five steals.
Ponderosa's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Green Mountain, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ponderosa has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Green Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Ponderosa came up short against Green Mountain in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, falling 61-51. Can Ponderosa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
