Patriot is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 19, 2024 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 72-41 loss at the hands of Santiago. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Norte Vista, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They rang in the new year with a 62-54 win over Moreno Valley on Friday. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Vikings are ranked 482nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Norte Vista's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.0 points per game. As for Patriot, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
