Basketball Recap: Valentine Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Paige Sprenger and Aiden Hand

Valentine lost against Chadron back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Valentine took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chadron Cardinals. Valentine has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Valentine's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aiden Hand, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds, and Paige Sprenger, who had 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That was a full 41.7% of Valentine's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Chadron was led to victory by Jezy Alcorn and Reese Ritterbush. Alcorn posted six points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Ritterbush had seven points. Alcorn has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played.

Valentine's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Chadron, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Valentine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-30 defeat against West Holt on the 6th. As for Chadron, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-44 loss against Scottsbluff on the 4th.
