Volleyball Recap: Combs Comes Up Short

Combs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastmark Firebirds. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Coyotes of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 25-19.

Chloe Gonzales paced Combs' offense, picking up 14 kills. Gonzales got some help from Ambriah Lujan and her 14 assists. Gonzales was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

McKenna Jackson had a dynamite game For Eastmark., getting 28 digs. That's the most digs Jackson has posted over her last six matches.

Combs' loss dropped their record down to 10-24. As for Eastmark, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Combs will square off against rival ALA - Gilbert North at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Eastmark is set to face off against their familiar foe Poston Butte at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
