Baseball Recap: North Comes Up Short

North suffered their closest defeat since March 16, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Venice Gondoliers by a score of 5-3. The Saxons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gondoliers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

North got a good showing from Ryan Shepherd, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shepherd has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kai Nagashima, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

This is the second loss in a row for North and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Venice, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1.

Coincidentally, North and Venice will both be playing El Segundo the next time they take the field. The Saxons will head out to face the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Gondoliers will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
