Baseball Game Preview: Kalida Wildcats vs. Ayersville Pilots

The Kalida Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Ayersville Pilots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Kalida is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

While Kalida didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Continental with a sharp 12-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ayersville came up short against Patrick Henry on Saturday and fell 5-2. The Pilots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kalida's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Ayersville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Kalida beat Ayersville 5-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
