Softball Game Preview: Columbus Grove Bulldogs vs. Continental Pirates

The Columbus Grove Bulldogs will challenge the Continental Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Columbus Grove fell victim to Liberty-Benton and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 13-0. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Columbus Grove saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dakota Dunn, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Continental unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 5-0 to Hicksville.

Columbus Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Continental, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Columbus Grove has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Continental struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Columbus Grove couldn't quite get it done against Continental in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
